Description

Leading the way and promoting SCLs vision to ensure that every learner can maximise personal progress through their interactions with SCL. Taking ownership for learners within the assigned cohort, ensuring that we achieve and sustain OFSTED rating Outstanding in relation to individual learner journeys. Provide highly effective support for all cohorts of learners, focusing on their Personal Development, Behaviours and Attitudes in the aim to maximise progress, enhance personal growth and enable positive destinations for future work and life.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

  • Work in collaboration with key delivery and business service departments to achieve SCL’s unique ‘Curriculum Intent’, playing a vital role in achieving the following for each individual learner:

We use the ‘Power’ and ‘Principles’ of Sport to engage individuals into education so that they can:

  • Rapidly improve their academic skills, emotional wellbeing, mental toughness, and physical health (‘stand out from the crowd’).
  • Enhance their preparation for higher level study and/or work.
  • Inspire them to make positive decisions for life.
  • Responsible for proposing, leading, managing and delivering the overall strategy and execution of individual personal development to ensure every learner can achieve a positive destination.
  • Develop excellent working relationships through the servicing of curriculum which contribute to improving retention, progress, achievement, and destinations of students.
  • Provide a range of professional early interventions to support students to have good emotional and mental health and general wellbeing, along with resilience and coping strategies to overcome any perceived barriers to learning and achievement, enabling them to progress to their chosen destination.
  • Deliver a menu of group tutorial workshops via SCL’s ‘Tutorial Programme’, taking ownership of specialisms.
  • Strive to achieve consistently outstanding provision available to all student cohorts in a variety of environments.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS

  • Level 2 equivalent in English & Maths
  • Level 3 Award in Education and Training (or willingness to work towards)
  • Minimum 1 year’s recent experience of supporting students/apprentices and employers in a classroom and/or work-based setting.
  • Experience of monitoring and analysing data to inform the direction of the work
  • Proven experience of supporting students/apprentices to meet their goals and secure achievements.
  • Experience of external liaison and multi-agency working enabling the provision of effective wraparound person-centred support

DESIRABLE SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS

  • Recognised qualifications / certificates in relevant disciplines, i.e., basic counselling skills, facilitation skills, personal mentorship, youth work qualification.
  • Experience of delivering / facilitating group work sessions
