Overall Purpose
Primarily this will be to work within our SEND department to support students who have SEND and / or SEMH needs. The successful candidate will need to show an inclusive approach to students modifying language and practice to ensure they are fully supported in their learning.
Key tasks will include supporting students and other staff during their time in lessons or within our SEND department, supporting the delivery of lessons or intervention to address the learning, behaviour, social and emotional needs and responding to situations as they arise on a day-to-day basis.
Job Description:
- Support the vision, ethos and policies of the Academy which secure effective teaching, successful learning and promote high levels of achievement and self-esteem for all students irrespective of background, ethnicity, gender or disability.
- To actively engage in the curriculum delivery including the delivery of enrichment activities.
- To deliver small group or 1 to 1 intervention in and out of the classroom.
- To ensure a safe, calm and purposeful learning environment at all times.
- To support students in displaying the South Axholme Mindset.
- To support students in regulating their emotions and choices when in lessons or in dialogue with other students and adults.
- Provide support for students with significant wellbeing needs (EG - Trauma, Mental Health, Medical, and Attachment Issues).
