SCL Skills delivers apprenticeship and adult learning programmes with hundreds of employer partners across sport, retail, fitness and education. We were named Apprenticeship Provider of the Year (Sales, Marketing and Procurement) at the 2024 AAC Apprenticeship Awards and we hold an Ofsted ‘Good’. Now we are growing into new markets, investing in technology and AI, and rebuilding what quality means for us — and we want someone to lead that work.
As Head of Quality, Teaching and Learning you will set the standard for the learning experience across our apprenticeship and adult provision, including subcontracted delivery. You will own the Quality Improvement Strategy for the division, be our authority on Ofsted’s renewed Education Inspection Framework and the Further Education and Skills Inspection Toolkit, and lead a team that coaches, challenges and supports every trainer to be at their best. You will sit with the Skills SLT to shape strategy and innovation — not simply report into it.
This is not a compliance and paperwork role. It is for someone who can walk into a session and see exactly what would make it better, and who can make hundreds of colleagues want to hear it.
You will bring substantial experience of leading quality within an apprenticeship provider, a demonstrable record of improving outcomes, and credibility with senior leaders and boards. You will hold a Level 5 teaching qualification (DET or equivalent). Experience of representing a provider during inspection — perhaps as Ofsted nominee — is valued.
